What's Your Identity?

I posted this devotional today at KJV Blog Directory : I recently read the story of an elderly nurse standing behind the window of the newborn nursery where she worked. Outside the window were three young fathers nervously peering through the glass to identify their newborn babies. With the babies all wrapped up in their soft blankets, it was hard to tell which baby belonged to which father. The nurse put on her glasses and began to examine the tiny bracelet on each baby's arm, then looking at the bracelet on each father's arm, carefully matching each baby's name to its father's name. As she positively identified each baby, she opened the door and gave each father his baby and watched his face light up with delight. As she turned away to her other responsibilities, she heard one of the fathers whisper, "I knew you were mine all along!" That's just how God is! Wednesday in the Word: The Blessings of Drawing Nigh to God

 This entry is cross-posted today at KJV Blog Directory . This is my final devotion on drawing nigh to God; the other two parts of this series can be found here and here . This last one actually fits quite well with our children's class Sunday school lessons this month on sowing and reaping. We're learning that when you sow good seeds in your heart-garden, you reap God's blessings. This devotion gives some of the blessings you reap when you draw near to God! We'll start back in Psalm 51, where we saw David drawing nigh to God last time. Verse 12 tells us one of the benefits David experienced when he drew near to God: joy ! David asked God to renew the joy of his salvation. When we are away from God, sometimes our joy might fade a bit - actually, it probably will, not just might.
