Wednesday in the Word: Today

Day's End

"Thy shoes shall be iron and brass; and as thy days, so shall thy strength be."
Deuteronomy 33:25

The blessing above is taken from that given to the tribe of Asher as Moses was preparing to die. I found the following hand-written note in the margin of my Bible, taken from With the Word by Warren Wiersbe:

"The best way to destroy today is to regret yesterday and worry about tomorrow."

I believe God wants us to live in the present! He gives us instruction concerning the past and the future in Philippians 3:13,14.

Forget what is past. Yesterday is finished. There is nothing that can be changed about it. When the sins and mistakes of the past have been confessed, forget them. After all, God has forgotten them! (Hebrews 8:12 and Hebrews 10:17) Many times our regrets about the past are the things that keep us from living for today.

Reach forth to the future. Rather than worry about tomorrow, look forward to it in anticipation. Commit your way to the Lord (Psalm 37:5) and trust tomorrow to Him (Proverbs 3:5,6). He knows the plans He has for you, and He will bring them to pass (Jeremiah 29:11). There is no need to worry!

Live today to the fullest!
