Wednesday in the Word: Mary of Bethany

Mary of Bethany Although Mary, sister of Martha and Lazarus, is mentioned just a handful of times in the New Testament, the Lord Jesus had high words of praise for her, praise that we as women should strive for in our own lives: “she hath done what she could,” (Mark 14:8) and “Mary hath chosen that good part . . .” (Luke 10:42) How I’d love to hear Jesus say, “Susan, you’ve done your best; you’ve done what you could!” How can we go about making sure that we hear Him say that? What things does God look for in a woman that will please Him enough to say, “You’ve done well; you’ve done what you could?” I believe we can learn some of those things by looking at the life of Mary of Bethany.
