Give God the Eraser

"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps."
~~ Proverbs 16:9 ~~

Do you plan your days? As busy as most of us are, we do have to make at least a very basic plan for each day. We plan what we'll cook, what we'll clean, and maybe even what we'll do for fun. That's a wise thing to do! It's also wise to plan for the future, setting goals we'd like to accomplish in the next months and years. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 4:26 - "Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established."

But what happens when our plans don't materialize in quite the way we had anticipated? Sometimes the Lord uses interruptions to lead us in His way for a particular day, or a goal we have for the future is changed by something that wasn't in the plan we had made. Rest assured that even the littlest things are allowed by God! We plan, which is wise and good, but God is the one who directs our steps.

Make your plans in pencil and give God the eraser!

  1. Very true! I had most of 2009 planned out with what I wanted back in Oct 2008. The Lords plans were not the same and I have had to remind myself often that God know best, for me and my family.

  2. That was a very good post. I need to remember that.

    Also, What is the name of your Pastor friend who past away? I know the Lord will know who I'm talking about, but it is always nice to know when someone is praying for you by name.

    I'm glad you had fun at the park, I pray it opens some heart doors.

  3. Margaret, it's so easy to get set on our own plans. I do it all the time, and I'm not so easy to switch gears when I need to.

    Theresa, the pastor I spoke of on Twitter is Pastor Greg Baker of Ajax, Ontario, a well-loved and respected man in Canadian IFB circles. Please pray for his family and church; they're going through a very painful time!

  4. Amen. Interruptions are allowed by God and, as with all things, we have the opportunity to learn and grow during those times.
    Love the title and theme. Thanks for sharing!

    Amen! Thanks for the reminder.--I tend to not like it too much when my plans get interrupted. (o;
