If you'd like to read what the 2 other ladies that I mentioned in my testimony about choosing modest dress wrote about their dresses-only experience, you can find them here: Sarah and Jeni.
Which end of the ironing board do you use? Before I was married (and my family still does) I used the narrow, rounded end. But when I got married, Wes used the wide end. Since it was always turned that way, I started using the wide end too. And now . . . I can't imagine using the narrow end! I was watching 20/20 tonight, and they were interviewing men and women who were training to be household managers for the rich and famous. In one segment, the instructor tells his students to "always, always, always use the wide end of the ironing board." So how about you? Which end of the board do you use? Would you consider switching to the wide end? I'm a member of a women's online forum, and we had this discussion several months ago. Please scroll to the bottom to see my exciting addition to this post! Today I'll join in with Kelli's Show and Tell Friday for my December Daily post. As some of you may know, last Friday night I was honored to speak at the ladies' Christmas Tea at Greater Vancouver Baptist Church . At first I didn't understand "blue ribbons" because I was focused on the gorgeous roses, but then I saw the blue ribbon interwoven with the roses. Isn't it beautiful?! I just love it, and I've already served myself my favorite tea from it! I felt like such a lady of leisure with my own little personal teapot! ;) ...
This might get a little preachy, but it's something that hit me square in the face yesterday and I thought it would be a good thing to share. To set the stage: Yesterday morning, Wes and I were getting ready to take the kids shopping down in Bellingham, WA. The Lord has blessed us with an extra bit this month, and the kids and Wes needed some things, so after Andrew and Beth were finished with school, we were planning to head out. I needed to know what Wes wanted to do about lunch and supper, since we'd be leaving right around lunch time and we weren't sure when we'd get back home. I asked him if he wanted me to fix our main meal of the day before we left (which we've been doing recently), and he said no; we'd take some snacks with us. So I was planning what I'd do before we left so supper would be quicker when we got home. He casually said, "I thought we might stop at Red Robin (a restaurant) on the way home," to which I immediately respond...
