But first, we have other things planned.
Tonight is our Ladies' Fellowship Christmas Party. This is the highlight of our ladies' calendar each year. We have it at the first of the month so people are free to do all the other stuff they have planned and not have to squeeze in our ladies' party. I'll have details in the next couple of days!
Friday night, the 6th, we're having our church Family Christmas Party. We usually have a party for the children, one for the teens, and one for the adults, but this year we're combining those three into one family party. We'll meet for a finger-foods potluck, then we'll load up on a bus for a tour of Christmas lights in our town, with Christmas music, hot chocolate, and coffee.
Did I tell you I'm teaching Patch the Pirate Club this year on Wednesday nights? Long story, but we have suspended our bus for all but the teens on Wednesday nights, and I have our church children, grades 1-6, for Patch Club. Although we're having a family Christmas party, I'm having a party for Patch Club on the 18th. I'm excited, and the kids are ecstatic! We'll have Christmas games, singing, and yummy treats. And some goodies to take home, too!
On December 22nd, our church is presenting Christmas, Family Style. We did this a couple of years ago and it was popular, so we're doing it again. Each family in our church prepares something special - a song, a skit, a reading, an instrumental presentation, a comedy routine - with a Christmas theme. Last time, it turned out to be quite comical - we seem to have a lot of comedians in our midst! I don't expect any different this year! Wes will sing, and I'll probably play an arrangement on the piano, and the Patch Club will sing their monthly song and a special Christmas song. We're inviting people from the neighborhood too as a part of our outreach program. All very informal . . . family style!
On Christmas, several families in our church get together for dinner at a church member's home. This is something I look forward to each year. It's pretty close to going to a family dinner!
Then, on New Year's Eve, we'll fly to California to visit our children! What a way to end the year!
What's on your calendar for the month?
