We are in our new home, reconnected to the internet, and fitted with new cell and home phone numbers! I am so glad to be connected to the outside world again, although truthfully, I've been so busy the past two weeks that I haven't had much time to think about the rest of the world.
We are in our house and about 75% unpacked. We have a room for my crafts and a room for my husband's office, but his room is unfinished yet, so my craft room is serving as temporary storage. Our landlord will be finishing his office within the next couple of weeks, so that problem will be eliminated soon. But until then, the office and craft boxes will have to stay packed up for the most part.
I can't begin to tell you how good the Lord has been to us during this move! Our sweet Lions Gate Baptist Church family in North Vancouver gave us a sendoff last Wednesday night. They sang, we ate, Wes gave a devotion, and several people gave testimonies of how the Lord had worked in their lives during our time there. It was an emotional time for us, but a blessing to be able to leave them knowing that they are following on with the Lord.
A young couple from here in Kelowna came down on Friday to help load the truck and move to Kelowna. This city is about 4 1/2 hours northeast of Vancouver, but with the truck and the heavy fog on one of the mountain summits, it took us 6 hours to drive. We honestly couldn't have finished our packing and loading in North Vancouver without Josh and Sarah! They were a huge blessing to us!
We arrived here at 9:00 Friday night, unloaded our mattresses, and fell into bed. Saturday morning most of the men of the church and many teens and children came to the house and unloaded the truck for us. What took us all day to pack on Friday was unloaded in 40 minutes on Saturday! ;) A couple of the ladies had begged the house key from our landlord and had filled our fridge and freezer with food. The next day, one lady brought sandwiches for lunch and another sent a pot of chili for supper. What a blessing not to have to cook that day! A couple of teen girls stayed after the truck was unloaded to help with setting up the kitchen. We were so blessed by so many things over the weekend. We sure have been made welcome by our new church family!
Even our landlord has been a blessing. He has worked hard on this house to make it beautiful, and I am enjoying it so much. It's in a newer neighborhood, and it is easily the nicest house we've ever lived in. Our landlord has been so eager to make things easy for us and has been willing to work with us on things like Wes's office and holding the house for us without paying extra. I will have to tell you the story of how we found this house and how the whole thing unfolded. I can just tell you it was all God!
That's all for tonight. I'm looking forward to getting back into a "normal" routine - whatever that may be - and getting back to blogging again. I hope to post pictures of our new town, home, and church in the near future and tell you all the things that are going on here. We're excited about what the Lord has done and what He is going to do! Thanks so much for all your prayers and kind comments!
