Yesterday was our church's fifth anniversary! It's so hard to believe we've already been here for five years!
During the past five years, we've seen a lot of people come and go. Some have visited just once or twice, some have stayed for a while, and others have stayed with us permanently, faithfully coming to church each week and being a blessing to us. We have two families still with us who were in our first service, and how we praise the Lord for them! Nothing encourages a pastor and his family like those faithful folks who stay with you through thick and thin.
We didn't have a large push for our anniversary this year. We did distribute about 1500 flyers in the neighborhoods surrounding the rec centre where we meet. We had one visitor yesterday from those flyers, and one couple two weeks ago. This is normal! LOL We did have many visitors yesterday through our regular attenders, though.
We had a special group come and sing for us whom we've had for four of the past five years. We always enjoy these men's old-time southern quartet style. We also had a potluck dinner, which at our church ends up being an international dinner! We have people from all over the world, literally - The Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Canada, and the United States. We all bring favorites from our various countries. I always take a banana pudding, a nice Southern dessert that I grew up eating. Most people here have never had it, and so far everyone who tries it has liked it. I love all the Asian food our people bring!
We're so grateful for all the Lord has done for us and taught us in the past five years. We're most thankful for the people He's given us to minister to. Each one is a blessing to us, and Wes and I both hope that we're a help and a blessing to each of them!
Five years down; looking forward to all that God has in store for the future!
