We are now a Wii family. Are you surprised? I am! LOL A few months ago, Andrew talked Beth into entering a contest at Kellogg's Canada, with the chance to win one of 15 Wiis. She entered, and she won! We have entered our share of giveaway contests, but this is the biggest thing we've ever won. I didn't realize that it was through Kellogg's, which is a reputable company, so I was skeptical, to say the least, when she told me she'd been notified that she was a winner. The notice said to allow 6-9 weeks for delivery, but I wasn't holding my breath.
All summer my kids have been talking about Beth's Wii. I kept shaking my head, thinking it'll never happen. All summer - no Wii. Then, when we returned from our vacation at the end of August, there were 3 UPS stickers on our door, saying that we could pick up the package for Beth at the UPS office, call and make arrangements, etc. Finally, in our mail we found a notice saying that, due to lack of response, they were sending Beth's package back if we didn't claim it by August 30th. We arrived home on August 31st. What disappointment there was in our home that night. And I was pretty sad that I'd never believed it was coming and now it had come and gone while we were gone!
The next day was Saturday, but Wes called the contest coordinator and left a message on her phone. Then he called again on Monday, as well as sending her an e-mail. Beth also sent her an e-mail. Sometime during that first week we were home, Ms. Contest Coordinator responded to Beth's e-mail, saying that she would gladly re-send the Wii as soon as it arrived back at her office (or wherever those things come from!). Yay!
That was 2 weeks ago, and this morning the UPS man knocked on the door again, and there was Beth's Wii. Andrew set it up, and we are learning to hit golf balls and bowl and play tennis, all in the comfort of our living room. Wes says he can get lots of exercise now! ;) It's just a silly game system, but we've never had the latest and greatest of anything, let alone a game system. I think it's pretty neat that Beth won it. It'll be great fun when we have folks over! And just for us, too, for that matter. Poor Sam will have to wait till Christmas to play, though.
We are especially grateful to the contest folks at Kellogg's for being so understanding and willing to work with us! Good business! Yes, I even thank God for sending along this special, unexpected, totally unnecessary gift. We definitely did not need a game system, but every now and then (or even quite often), God gives us something we don't really need. Sort of like we do with our own children, you know?! Just because we love them? You got it!
