Our Christmas Home

My December Daily post for today is a photo tour of our Christmas home! If you're coming by from The Nesting Place, let me welcome you to my little corner of the world. I'm Susan, a Baptist pastor's wife and mom of three adult children, living in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. You can read more about my family here, if you'd like. If you're a regular reader, welcome back! We're continuing with Day 16 of my December Daily posts - thanks for reading along with me!

We live in a 2-bedroom condo, and I only decorate the public area - as in kitchen and living room - so this shouldn't take too long! ;)

First is our little Christmas tree. It's set up in a little out-of-the-way corner between the kitchen and living room, because we don't have room anywhere else. I'm wanting to get genuine vintage ornaments to use on it.
I bought these little snowman ornaments a couple of years ago at Michaels. We have one for each child and one for Wes and me. I still need to find one with our daughter-in-law's name on it. She just joined our family this year.
Wes and I went to the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park in May, 2011, after dropping our last child off at college. She went early to work through the summer. This ornament and the next are what I chose as our remembrances of that trip.
We're originally from the Deep South, so Cracker Barrel has significance to us! We love to go there when we visit family down south.

This is the ornament our youth director's little girl made us last year, when she was just a little over a year old. This little girl has our hearts (as does her new baby sister!), so this ornament will be on our tree for many years to come!

When you first enter our condo, our kitchen and dining area are to your right.

On our china hutch, I have a tiny little nativity set.

And that's it for our little home tour. I hope you've enjoyed seeing our very simple Christmas home this year. Thank you for coming by, and I hope you'll come back as I continue my December Daily series throughout the month!

Many thanks to The Nester for hosting the Christmas Tour of Homes!

Day 16 Scripture:
"Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem. The LORD hath taken away thy judgments, he hath cast out thine enemy: the king of Israel, even the LORD, is in the midst of thee: thou shalt not see evil any more."
Zephaniah 3:14,15

  1. Your Christmas decorations are very pretty! I don't have a lot of Christmas decorations, but we do have our tree and a small collection of snowmen. Oh, and a nativity set from my MIL when she visited Bethlehem. It's made of olive wood. One day, I'd like to pick out a nativity set for myself. :-)

    1. We don’t have a lot of decorations either. I think it’s warm and homey, though! I had wanted a nativity for years and years when we finally got this one. I love it!

    1. Thank you! I've only "collected" snowmen (unintentionally!) for a couple of years. I've found that I love them more and more!

    1. Thanks, Rhonda! I really really really love my manger scene! It's one of my favorite possessions now! I'll have to do a post about our auction finds, which is where we got this one . . .

  4. Lovely decorations! I especially like your nativity. We have a wooden stable that my dad made, but I've never liked the figures that we got to go with it. We do display it, but the figures are not that realistic or nice.

Love that Cracker Barrel ornament too!

    1. I've always wanted a nativity, and I've even considered collecting them. But we have absolutely nowhere in this little condo to put more stuff . . . so that will have to wait a while. What a great treasure to have the wooden stable made by your dad! Maybe someday you'll find just the perfect figures to go with it.

  5. A Cracker Barrel ornament! How cool! I never knew they made those!

We used to hang ornaments on the bookcase, too, before we had a mantel to hang them from.

Love your Christmas village! Wish I had a place to put one.

You've packed a lot of nice decorating into that condo!

    1. I love my Cracker Barrel ornaments (I have 2)! We got them on one of our trips down south in recent years - can't remember when. I really want to do more with that Christmas village, but Wes just laughs when I say that. He likes it plain and simple. Sigh. LOL
