Or maybe that should read, "For You To Catch Up With Me!" We've had a whirlwind life the past couple of weeks. As you know, we attended the Spiritual Leadership Conference last week in Lancaster, CA. I still have some detail posts to write about that - we had a great time! We arrived home late Thursday night, then hit the ground running again on Friday to prepare for this week, when we had a group from Oklahoma come up on a missions trip to help us with outreach for a week.
Our group arrived Monday evening. We had been preparing for several weeks to have a Community Carnival on Wednesday, June 19th, so the action plan was to blanket the area around the park where the event would take place. We sent the group out on Tuesday and Wednesday with families from our church. They placed several thousand flyers on doors in our area, and on Wednesday evening, the Lord blessed! We had to move our venue from the park to a local school gym because of rain (some of the heaviest we've had in a while!), but we still had 94 people come to our little carnival!!! Some of those were our regular bus riders, some were workers, but we still had quite a turnout from the flyers we distributed. We're so excited to have made contact with so many new families from the community, and we're looking forward to the followup. I'll have more details and pictures in the premier edition of my blog's newsletter, coming in July. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter so you won't miss it!
My main job this week was feeding the mission group of five adults. We fed them all three meals each day, and boy did we ever love the fellowship around the table! We talked and laughed and ate and made new friends. What a joy it was to have them in our home! They were here all week, and left this morning.
Next week our teens are heading to Youth Conference at North Valley Baptist Church in Santa Clara, CA. We went last year on our church bus, which was 27 hours each way. This year our youth pastor found a good deal on plane tickets, so they get to fly from Seattle, which is a mere 6 hours away by bus! Wes and I aren't going this year, but Beth is. We will stay home and take care of the youth director's little girl. It's a tough job, but somebody's got to do it! ;)
So that's what's been going on at our house. I have a good report from the doctor to tell you about as well as reports from last week's conference. Thanks for your patience!
