Last year, I began a quilt that I was hoping to finish by Christmas. Time moved quickly, and I made good progress . . . for a while. Then I had other things that were more urgent come up, and as is usual for me, I set it aside thinking I would get right back on it in a few days.

Well, here we are in March of this year, and that quilt still isn't finished. The top just needs one more border added and it'll be done, but then there's the quilting to do. I am learning free-motion quilting with these tutorials at A Few Scraps, but I still have a long way to go.

Enter God's timing.
I am subscribed to Groupon, an online group that features daily deals in your local area. Today's deal just happened to be for a local quilt shop, to get either $40 of fabric for $20, or $80 of fabric for $40. In addition, I had just received an email from Groupon offering me a first-time buyer's discount of $15 off any deal over $30. I quickly did the math and discovered that I could get $80 worth of fabric for just $25. Which left me $5 out of my current stash to go buy myself a coffee or something.
Isn't God's timing amazing?!

What a beautiful quilt! How neat to get that much fabric for so little. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm excited! Now I just need to make my list so I go to the shop prepared to spend that money wisely.
DeleteHis timing is indeed perfect. I never cease to marvel at it. And the quilt is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed! Other people have shared some of God's timing in their lives with me, and it's so amazing.
DeleteWow, that did work out great!!!
ReplyDeleteMaking quilts isn't cheap, is it? I've been piecing together scraps for backings and bindings and ... fronts too. But I still have to buy the batting. Like you, I have been using coupons and sales.
Your quilt is going to be beaautiful Susan!
No, it is NOT cheap, especially when you're making something for someone and you want it to be the very best. I don't have much left over from this quilt top (I used a layer cake) but I do have some small pieces I want to use to add some interest to the back. Our local chain of fabric store has their batting on sale all the time, so I'll probably get the batting there to save money.
DeleteThat is beautiful...and what a deal!! I looked at your blog because mine is Bethsbygrace.....and I thought it was neat that your name was so similar!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Beth
And my daughter's name is Beth! :) Thanks so much for stopping by! I'll come by your blog and visit too.
DeleteI love how the Lord provides!
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt in the top photo, Susan! At first I DID think it was yours and thought, Wow! Susan's doing great! I felt like I was clicking onto a fancy quilting blog! :) Well, the picture of your quilt looks like it will be just as beautiful!! Tell Wes when it's all done to take you to a seaside getaway and hold your quilt up for you to photograph! :) And, yes, God definitely provides at just the right time...too many experiences in my life not to believe that!
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt too . . . that's why I bought the pattern! ;) I wish my work was that good, and hopefully it will be. I only showed a small portion of mine because it's for a gift. When it's finished and gifted, I'll show the whole thing. That ocean getaway sounds nice! ;)
