Let It Snow!

Trees across the street covered in snow

We've had quite a few snowy days lately. We don't have feet of snow, but we do have several inches sitting around. The sad thing is that we live on the corner of a very busy road, and our view is of a shopping center and a row of small businesses - it gets messy as soon as cars drive by. So I have to be selective with my viewing, focusing on the distant hills and the beauty of the trees outside our apartment and across the street at the shopping center rather than on the ugly slush on the streets and sidewalks. That's how we have to be in life too; we have to think on the the good things as God teaches us in Philippians 4:8!

The tree just below our balcony. You can see some of our slush!

  1. Snow is so pretty but the yucky slush in parking lots isn't. :P

    1. I hate the slush. I just can't let myself look at that! LOL

  2. This is very, very true.

Oh and the gift from your church (from the post below) was wonderful!

  3. I must admit...I am jealous. We're in the 60s today in SC. I'd love some snow!

    1. I'm still southern enough to enjoy the snow. We're getting it earlier than usual this season, so we're wondering if this will be a snowy winter. Most people imagine Canada as a vast frozen tundra, but we actually don't get a lot of snow where we are! ;)

  4. That is a good application. We don't have snow but I can get "down" about the drabness of the landscape with no leaves, everything just brown and grey, and some overcast days on top of that, and I keep telling myself not to let myself go there but to look for good things to focus on.

    1. When we lived in Vancouver and had rain over 300 days a year, I had to learn not to let my mood be influenced by the weather. Here in Kelowna, there isn't much rain and usually not much snow, but the skies are overcast all winter. So again, I have to look beyond the weather! :)

  5. Living in Florida, I don't have to deal with the sluch and mess, but sometimes I do miss that beautiful clean fresh snow I experienced in West Virginia, Ohio, and S.C.

  7. You are so right about needing to overlook the slush and look instead on those things God wants us to focus on. Good analogy! Thanks for sharing. We have both snow and slush here right now in places, but plenty of bare pavement in other places (like parking lots) which I don't mind a bit!

  8. The wind is howling today and it was in the high 20's this morning but no snow yet. I'm hopeful we may get a bit next week. Living in Georgia snow is such a major event!

The trees outside your condo are pretty covered in snow!

    1. I grew up in Greenville, SC, and when it would snow (which wasn't often!) the whole city came to a standstill! I laugh about it now, because here we pretty much keep going unless the snow gets really deep. And we don't even get much snow in this part of Canada!
