Sunday in Review: October 16, 2011
We had a good day at church today, just an average Sunday. Most of our regular church family were able to be in church for both services, which is always a good thing for a pastor to look out and see. I don't think people really understand just how much the pastor and his wife really mean it when they say they're glad to see folks at church! Those "smiling faces" really do mean make us happy! Wes has had a theme for each month this year, and October's theme is Thankfulness (our Thanksgiving Day was last Monday). His sermons this month are centered around thankfulness. Today's message was about Daniel and how he was thankful even in the midst of oppression, uncertainty, and waiting in the story of his experience in the lions' den. This was a good reminder to "in everything give thanks." Since there are five Sundays in October, we have a Songfest scheduled for that fifth Sunday night. Anyone and everyone who wants to sing that night can do so, and Wes and I were both excited to see several groups practicing for Songfest tonight. Another good day of serving together with the people God has given us!
