Party Day

Thank you all who left well-wishes and congratulations for Beth last week!

We all had a great time with our friends on Friday afternoon. We had a drop-in reception from 2:00 to 5:00. One of our pastor friends in Vancouver, whose daughters are Beth's best friends, drove his younger daughter up here (4+ hours) to see Beth for the reception. That was very sweet of him, seeing that his church had just had a huge surprise party for one of the ladies Friday night, and their church's 12th anniversary was today. Plus his wife has injured her back and was unable to travel ... all that added up to sheer love for his daughter and our daughter to drive 8 hours just to spend 3 hours. We appreciate it!

Here are some pictures from the reception:

The cake . . . chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream from Costco

The punch in my new dispenser! I mixed orange juice and mango passionfruit juice with Sprite and added orange slices. The ice in the bottom of the dispenser sat for 3 hours and only melted a little bit. The drink stayed cold the entire time. I think this is going to prove to be an excellent investment!

Just a view of the table - we had cake, nuts, cookies, fruit - typical "reception" foods

Here we are with our girl - so proud of her!

I'm taking Beth shopping tomorrow with a couple of the gift cards that have to be used in Canada. Some of our shopping will wait till we arrive in California, when we'll shop for her dorm room. We're getting excited about our trip!

Looks like a great time! That cake looks scrumptious, and I am so glad the beverage dispenser worked out so well.

  3. How wonderful!! That cake was beautiful and your beverage dispenser was fabulous!! It looks so beautiful with the orange slices floating on top! I am sure you will enjoy many years of use with that. The punch recipe you made sounds so delicious! I'll bet there wasn't much left over! Thank you for sharing your daughter's special day.
