We had a great day yesterday! We had some American friends with us, Pastor and Mrs. Tim Campbell. Bro. Campbell is not only one of our supporting pastors, but he's also Wes's parents' beloved pastor! He preached for us yesterday morning (although I didn't get to hear him, since I teach Sunday school), and Wes said he did a fantastic job. We also had a young family visiting with us for the first time, Brian and Angela with their baby boy, Braden. They found our church through our ad in the North Shore News. Braden went with us in Sunday school and had a blast with the balloons I had for an object lesson and games. He loved to kick them and then step on them to make them pop! ;) I love to watch visitors come in, a little hesitant at first, and then begin to relax as our people welcome them and make them feel at home, and I hope this young family will be back!
We so enjoyed taking the Campbells sightseeing and out to dinner on Saturday, then visiting with them between services yesterday. They were on a trip to the Pacific Northwest and Canada to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. The weather was beautiful while they were here so they could see all the beauty of this area. We also shared with them some of the challenges we face and the many more joys we have living in this city and country, and they were an encouragement to us to keep on working for the Lord.
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We are ready now for a fun week. Wednesday is Canada Day, which is Canada's birthday. We have a picnic and joint service in the park planned with Urban Community Baptist Church. We have a picnic with them almost every year, but this will be our first time to have a service at the park - I'm pretty excited about it!
Have a great week!
