In Ike's Path

Good morning! Things are going well here; life is moving right along. We're even having unusually warm, dry weather and are going to have some record high temperatures this weekend.

Not so for some friends of ours.

We know two families who live in the Houston area. I just talked to one of them to see if they were evacuating. They aren't. They're not in the evacuation zone, so they were told not to evacuate. Which makes sense - you don't want to clog up the highways for those who really need to get out. But at the same time, they are not looking forward to 90 mph winds, 20-foot storm surges, and days without electricity. So we're praying hard for their safety. They have all their supplies - food, water, grill, gas in the car, and plenty of things to do while they're waiting it out.

I'm sure everyone is praying for the Texas Gulf coast right now! Y'all hang on tight down there!

  1. I'm in prayer for them all!

Especially for my youngest sister who lives in Houston with her young son. She has gone inland and is staying with friends that have a generator and plenty of food. I just hope they are far enough inland!

Hope you are doing well today!☺

thanks for thinking of us in the path of Ike. I'm in Houston only about 30 miles north of Galveston. We are starting to have wind gust of 50+ mph. No rain as of yet, but know it is coming. We have plenty of food, water, and 3 out of 4 are here at home. My son was called to work for this morning and was told he has to stay til Monday morning. I know he is as safe as can be, probably more than we are as he is further inland, and quite a bit higher in elevation.

    thanks for the prayers.

  3. I've been watching the coverage almost constantly and it looks like it's not going to be as bad as they thought but still bad enough.

We have lots of friends down there too so we're really praying.

  4. This is the largest strom recorded at 700 miles wide. Can you imagine being in the midst of that? Scary!

    Praying for them!!
