Big Feet, Big Shoes

My daughter, Beth, is very tall - almost 6 feet tall. In order to look proportional and to remain upright, the Lord has bless my girl with large feet. The problem? We can't find a source for reasonably-priced shoes in large enough sizes to fit her. She needs a half size, and most stores don't carry half sizes above 9 1/2. So I ask you - do you know of a store, either on land or online, that carries larger shoes in half sizes, that wouldn't cost us an arm and a leg? Of course, if it cost her a leg, we'd only need one shoe, which would lower the price by half . . . no, no, no . . . we don't want to go there! LOL Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Susan, I just bought a pair of shoes for myself at Walmart-size 10 1/2. No one has great selection at the large sizes, but I don't recall seeing any other place with half sizes in my price range-which is cheap! LOL!
I so FFFEEEEELLLL for your daughter! I'm only 5'8", but my feet are right long! Shoe shopping is not fun!

  2. Yep, Sarah, Wal Mart has been our best source so far, and 10 1/2 is what she wears, but she is so tired of the limited selection there. That's why I was wondering if anyone had any ideas. You're right - shoe shopping is not fun for her. We spent a whole day going from store to store one day, and found nothing she could wear.

  3. I'm the runt of my litter of 4 girls - I'm short and wear a 6.5. My sisters are tall and wear 9.5, 11, & 12 in varying widths. Two sisters find their shoes at Robinson May, the 3rd finds hers at Payless or Walmart with great success. TJ Maxx has a lovely variety of shoes in all sizes. My next up sister and I went shopping there when she last visited and we found a few pairs of shoes for her she's happy with. Nieces on my husband's side are all 6' to 6'2" and have larger feet - they find their shoes the same places my sisters do.

    Blessings,
    Sherry

  4. Try this site:

I found out about them from an e-mail list for fat people with diabetes that I belong to. I have very wide feet & I found 2 pairs for shoes in double wide for only $17.99 each & they were orgionally $100 some bucks. I think they have larger sizes. The link I posted gives ya cheaper deals on the shoe-- extra savings I think. They seem to have more casual type shoes so if she's looking for dress type shoes they may not have it. Payless has the bigger shoes. I wish they had double wides cuz some of their wide shoes aren't wide enough. I wish I had narrow feel & no bunions. Best wishes in finding her shoes... :)

  5. I wear a size ten so I know what she goes through! I have bought shoes from Zappos.com The price range is from very low to obnoxiously high. They have a large selection. Other than that I shop from the routine department stores JCPenneys Sears Macy's etc.

If she needs sneakers, New Balance has all sizes and widths. If you ever go to Boston where their factory is they have a great store in Allston that has a great selection and great deals.

Also, for sneakers, don't be afraid to look in the men's section. Some men's sneakers look down-right cute on a girl and don't look masculine at all.

  8. Thank you all SO much for your suggestions! I'll check out the stores you mentioned. I even got a private e-mail from my best friend out in GA who offered to look at her favorite store for some shoes for Beth!
