Out of the Mouths of Babes
Well, 10-year-olds, anyway. Samuel was helping his friend, John-Marc, with the 10- and 11-year-olds in VBS today. One of the little boys noticed this bag belonging to John-Marc's mom that has the "Country Commandments" on it. The commandment that caught his attention was the one with the lady brandishing a rolling pin, saying "No Hanky Panky." Just as John-Marc was finishing with the plan of salvation, this little boy pipes up and says, "What's 'hanky panky'?" John-Marc, always thinking on his feet, said, "We'll talk about that later!" Then the other guys got to looking at it and wondering too. Samuel and John-Marc were both trying to regain order and attention, when another boy, noticing that the lady has a rolling pin in her hand, obviously about to hit someone, says, "Oh! It must mean 'no hitting!'"
"That's it!" says Samuel. That seemed to satisfy the boys, and John-Marc was able to continue the lesson with no further interruptions. If only it were really that simple!
