Do you Freecycle? I had heard of this organization a few times, so right before Christmas I subscribed to the list here in my area. The way it works is people list things they have to give away, anything from clothes to furniture to applicances to musical instruments. Folks who need these items may ask for them, and the giver chooses who to give it to. You can also list things that you need, and if someone has one to offer you, they contact you. All of this is done via e-mail. We've given away a couple of things already that we didn't need anymore, and we've also received a couple of things.
To find out if there's a Freecycle group in your area, go to the home page, click on your country or region, then your state or province, then your local area. If you're getting organized and decluttering, this might be a good way to get rid of some of that stuff, especially if you were going to donate it to a charity anyway. I have fun just seeing what people have to offer! The other day a lady here had a Pfaff serger that had belonged to her mother-in-law. It was just collecting dust, so she offered it. I was amazed!
